Ahlu Sunnah ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Ahlu Sunnah mobile application and website (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the App, you agree to the practices described below.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly:

Account details: If you choose to create an account, we collect your email address and a display name.
Optional profile data: Settings you save, such as your prayer zone, reading streak, and bookmarks.
Support requests: Any information you provide when contacting us.

Information collected automatically:

Usage data: Aggregate, anonymised analytics about which features are used, to help us improve the App.
Device data: Device type, operating system version, and language preference.
Location (optional): If you grant permission, your approximate location is used solely to calculate accurate prayer times for your area. Location data is not stored on our servers.
Audio (optional): When you use the recitation practice or Hafiz memorisation features, your microphone audio is recorded, sent to our servers for transcription and AI assessment, and then processed. Recordings are saved to your personal library only if you are a Premium subscriber; you may delete them at any time.

2. How We Use Your Information

To provide and maintain the App's features, including the Quran reader, hadith collections, duas, prayer times, recitation feedback, and Hafiz practice.
To process payments and manage subscriptions through our payment provider, Stripe.
To respond to support enquiries and feedback.
To improve the App's content, performance, and user experience.
To detect, prevent, and address technical issues or abuse.

3. Payments

Subscription payments and donations are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card details on our servers. Stripe handles all payment information in accordance with its own privacy and security standards. We receive only confirmation of the transaction and the last four digits of the card used.

4. Third-Party Services

The App relies on trusted third-party services to deliver its features, including:

Stripe — payment processing.
Quran and Hadith APIs — to fetch Quranic text, translations, tafsirs, and hadith collections.
AI transcription and language services — to assess your recitation and provide feedback.
Analytics providers — to understand aggregate usage patterns.

These providers may collect information governed by their own privacy policies. We do not sell your personal information to any third party.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely on our hosting provider's infrastructure. We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account information and saved content for as long as your account is active. Recitation recordings in your personal library are retained until you delete them or cancel your subscription. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time through the App's settings.

7. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you. To exercise these rights, or to opt out of analytics, contact us at the details below.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
